A lot of you know already, but for those that dont, our daughter - TopicsExpress

A lot of you know already, but for those that dont, our daughter Imogen was born with unilateral hearing loss. This in itself presents many developmental hurdles and puts her at a disadvantage to her peers. Imogen is only 21 months old now but having spoken to mothers of children with the same hearing loss who are older, it is evident that the NHS does not take unilateral deafness seriously enough and despite the advantage of early detection, very little support is then implemented to assist these children from a young age, meaning our children are being denied the chance to start nursery/school on a level playing field to their peers. Parents are having to fight for support for their children. Support in the way of speech and language therapy, hearing aids and teachers for the deaf. Support that we believe should be made readily available for our children from a young age, BEFORE learning & developmental problems occur. Its insane that babies are screened for hearing loss so soon after birth if not for the purpose of putting support in place as early as possible. I would really appreciate it if everyone could check out the link below and sign the e-petition. Thanks for reading :-)
