A lot people I know find melancholy in the fact that we as humans - TopicsExpress

A lot people I know find melancholy in the fact that we as humans have replaced the intimate and sacred human interactions with social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. But what I find is that they allow us to document the seemingly insignificant yet truly treasure worthy moments in our lives that we so easily forget. Video tapes, diaries, and photo albums easily become lost in the infinite material goods we acquire, so I think having a single place to collect our memories is powerful. Often I get scrutinized for how frequently I take selfies, pictures or videos because it separates me from the authenticity of the moments I have, but I feel its my own form of intimacy, my present as an anticipated memory, and helps me interact with my present so that it doesnt disappear in the abyss of the infinite moments that I experience. It helps recover what my mind so cruelly forgets. Heres a video that so beautifully articulates my thoughts on Instagram and other social media. https://m.youtube/watch?v=QEUnYah1aRw Thank you Melis Aker for introducing me to this YouTube channel.
