A lovely Christmas Day present for us when these recently fledged Tauhou (silvereye / waxeye) chicks were spotted in the lemon tree at my sister’s place in Murrays Bay. The upstairs bedroom window provided a perfect viewing platform of the chicks being fed – evidently Mum & Dad take turns. Later, when picking some lemons to take home, the tiny delicate nest made from a weaving of straw, moss and spiders’ gossamer was found on the ground below the tree. I bought that home.
