A lovely surprise this morning. When I went to take a picture of the Rosellas eggs in our kitchen balcony nesting log, (there were seven two days ago) three or maybe four have hatched in the last two days. This is a bit unusual as they lay their eggs a couple of days apart and usually sequentially hatch them at similar intervals. Perhaps the new hen took a while to settle on her clutch as she became used to us crashing about at all hours with empty bottles and the various organic detritus of modern Eco-friendly hipster living. Lets hope that she manages to raise a few of the original seven through this very dry and warm Sprummer weather we are experiencing currently. The second picture is of a pair of Easterns eggs which have appeared in the filter spare parts bin in the pump shed. Could it be that there is a shortage of natural nesting hollows locally or that the local parrots trust us more than the current plague of feral cats out there?
