A major change in the qualifying format for the FIBA World Cup will mean establishing a pool system for Gilas as national coach Chot Reyes said the other day starting in the 2019 conclave, picking up players from the PBA may no longer be possible because of scheduling conflicts. Reyes explained that in 2019, the World Cup will be expanded from 24 to 32 teams with a two-year qualification period involving six home-and-away windows in November, February, June, September, November and February leading to the global championships. Each contending team plays one home and one away game in a qualifying window. There will be seven qualifiers from Asia/Oceania with the Philippines in the same bracket as Australia and New Zealand. philstar/sports/2014/01/25/1282875/last-pick-pba-says-chot
