A major crisis has developed in Detroit as about 100 thousand of its citizens have had their water turned off for several weeks, because of non-payments. There have been calls to the White House and the UN to intercede and force the city to turn the water back on. Cutting off water is not only inhumane, but dangerous to the health of thousands of Americans. Detroit is under bankruptcy for a whole host of reasons, including corruption, mismanagement and a Republican Governor who refused to do anything to help resolve that citys problems, except to send in someone to sell off and privatize as much of Detroits assets and facilities as possible. Now, the right wing demagogues are joyous over the news of the fall of Detroit, as they have another excuse to blame something on Democrats and President Obama. The national media has practically ignored the plight of Motown. However, there are efforts, beginning this weekend with a concerned citizens march into Detroit to focus attention on the growing disaster in that Michigan town. But Ill bet the finger pointing and non-action by the government and the cheering right wing will change and fade when the news hits about Kansas brush with financial disaster is revealed, because of the madness of that states governor and Republican legislature to cut taxes to the wealthy, apparently using Paul Ryans math and some other unknown reasoning on how government can best operate. So, its time for the Obama administration to treat Detroit as it would a foreign country facing similar problems and for the sane people of Kansas to think re-call and/or impeachment.
