A mammoth studio and film production complex which has been hailed as the hollywood of Europe is under attack from within. Federico Fellini, Woody Allen, Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn, and needless to say, Sophia Loren have all spent time working here. At issue is the future shape of the core business, and the vast, historically significant facilities. Among other things, a hotel, theme park and retail shopping area have been proposed. The workers fear they will eventually lose their jobs and sight of their history. Ownership argues that they need to diversify and improve the business to remain current. If NBC/UNIVERSAL is any barometer, I would suggest there is a bright future for all concerned.
