A man has been charged in connection with a spate of housebreakings and thefts in the Peterhead area. This follows on from a search warrant which was carried out at a property on Leask Avenue, where a significant quantity of stolen items were recovered and identified from crimes across the town in recent weeks. As a result, three people were reported to the Procurator Fiscal under the Operation RAC initiative and were expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court last week. Now, a 25-year-old local male has also been charged as part of the campaign, which has been launched nationwide to crack down on acquisitive crime and housebreakings. He has been reported in connection with five housebreakings and a number of thefts, and is expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court this week. Detective Inspector Graeme Mackie said: This enquiry involved a great deal of work by local officers involved in Operation RAC, a national campaign to crack down on housebreakings. These incidents in particular highlight the dedication and commitment by the team involved and we would continue to encourage members of the public to report any suspicious persons or behaviour, and ensure they place the security of their property at the forefront of their minds. Anybody who wishes to report any criminal activity in their area is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
