A man has died following a collision in Astley Bridge. Shortly before 2.10pm on Friday 9 May 2014, a 46-year-old man was in collision with a bus on Athlone Avenue. The man, identified as Delroy Finney from Bolton, died of his injuries at the scene. Road closures were in place for six hours while police investigated. All roads are now open. Senior Investigating Officer, Sergeant Lee Westhead from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: Officers are now investigating the events surrounding Mr Finney⿿s death. Our thoughts are with his family, who are being supported at this tragic time by one of our family liaison officers. If anyone saw the collision, or saw Mr Finney before the collision, they should contact police. Anyone with information should phone the serious collision investigation unit on 0161 856 64741.
