A man narrowly escaped serious injury when he fell down a ravine in Mount Eliza yesterday. He was riding a mobility scooter down a track near the corner of Old Mornington Rd and Nepean Highway, but went to close to the edge and the scooter tipped, throwing him down a steep incline through scrub, bushes and blackberry plants. It is believed the man may have been there for up to two hours before a passing cyclist noticed the overturned scooter and looked down the embankment. He noticed the person below and notified the emergency services. An ambulance officer praised the cyclist for the job he had done as he assisted emergency services during the extraction. Attending were Frankston and Mount Eliza CFA, Frankston SES, Frankston Police and Ambulance. Dandenong High Angle Rescue team were called in to assist. The man was transported by ambulance to hospital, but appeared to suffer only scratches and abrasions. Pictures: Gary Sissons
