A man should feel remorse over his failings and his crimes against others, however he should not indulge in toxic guilt. It is a toxic use of energy that distracts him from preventing such a crime or failure from ever happening again. He must instead see to it that such failures never happen again. He must create a world in which it is impossible for such crimes to happen. Be it through reforging himself into a better person, or reforging the world around him. Even if that means one must fight crime dressed as a bat. :P
