When you do so, YOU SHALL NOT SEND HIM AWAY EMPTY HANDED, but shall weight him down with gifts from your flock and threshing floor and wine press, in proportion to the blessing the Lord, your Father, has bestowed on you. For remember that you too were once slaves in the land of Egypt, and the Lord, your Father, ransomed you. That is why I am giving you this commandment today. Deuteronomy 24:14,15 You shall not defraud a poor and needy hired servant, whether he be one of your own countrymen or one of the aliens who lives in your communities. You shall pay him each days wages before sundown on the day itself, since he is poor and looks forward to them. Otherwise he will cry to the Lord against you, and you will be held guilty. Deuteronomy 24:17 You shall not violate the rights of the alien or of the orphan, nor take the clothing of a widow as a pledge. For remember, you were once slaves in Egypt, and the Lord, your Father, ransomed you from there; that is why I command you to observe this rule. Matthew 5:38-48 You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and A tooth for a tooth. But I say to you not to resist the evildoer; on the contrary, if someone strike thee on the right cheek, turn to him the other also; and if anyone go to law with thee and takes thy tunic, let him take thy cloak as well; and whoever forces the to go for one mile, go with him two. To him who asks of thee, give; and from him who would borrow of thee, do not turn away. You have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and shalt hate thy enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute and calumniate you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven, who makes His sun to rise on the good and the evil, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. For if you love those that love you, what reward shall you have? Do not even the publicans do that? And if you salute your brethren only, what are you doing more than others? Do not even the Gentiles do that? You therefore are to be perfect, even as your heavenly Father is perfect.
