A man wanted in connection with an alleged child rape committed in Northampton has been extradited from Ghana. Northamptonshire Police requested the extradition of Deeba Akyampong, aged 35, in December 2012, via the Home Office and British High Commission in Ghana. He was arrested in January this year and remanded into custody by Osu Magistrates’ Court. Police said Akyampong, who is a celebrity musician in his native Ghana, landed at Heathrow Airport this morning and was today being transported to Northamptonshire. He will appear in Northampton Magistrates Court in the next week.
