A man who burgled a pharmacy in Kerikeri fled police on a 50cc moped at speeds of 35kmh. About 2.30am this morning the 24-year-old man broke into the Unichem Pharmacy. As he went inside an alarm sounded and he took off. About an hour later police found the man driving his scooter down the Heritage Bypass from Kerikeri Rd. They activated their sirens and lights to get him to stop, but he continued driving travelling at speeds of about 35kmh. Eventually Police managed to get alongside him and he pulled over and stopped. The man has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon, possessing a knife in a public place, failing to stop and burglary. Nothing was stolen from the pharmacy.
