A man who fought hard for a fair go for the workers of Broken Hill has been inducted into the Mining Hall of Fame. Paddy ONeill, the first president of the citys peak union body, the Barrier Industrial Council, started as a dunny-cart driver and is remembered as a champion of workplace relations. His grandson John Lynch, Royal Flying Doctor Service chief, says it is to the mining industrys credit that the worker was honoured at a ceremony in Melbourne last night, entering the hall of fame along with the bosses.
