A manga review (sort of) of Claymore Claymore is set on a fictional medieval island where humans are plagued by Yoma, humanoid shape-shifters that feed on humans. A mysterious group, known as The Organization, creates human-Yoma hybrids to kill Yoma for a fee. These female warriors wear armoured uniforms, and are referred to by the public as Claymores, after their Claymore swords, or Silver-eyed Witches, due to their silver eyes. The story primarily follows Clare, one of The Organisations warriors as she goes about her job of killing Yoma. Soon after Raki, a boy orphaned by a Yoma begins tagging along. Shortly after you are given a glimpse into Clare’s past revealing her tragic history and an insight into her motivation. As the story continues the list of characters and world expand, creating a complex and engaging story filled with action and suspense. This is a series that I had been reading as it was released for the last couple of years, and as such I am heavily biased; however as it is now finished, I just had to do this review. I greatly enjoyed this series, and recommend it to anyone looking for an exciting action series with a great story and complex characters. As previously mentioned, this series is now completed with 155 chapters currently scanalated, with 25 volumes covering the first 143 (I think) chapters published in English thanks to Vis media. There is also an anime adaptation released in 2007, that covers the first few arcs fairly accurately, but that had to make an Anime only ending that ruined the potential for a second season. ~Gentleman G
