A mantra for salutations to the guru or source of knowledge. In - TopicsExpress

A mantra for salutations to the guru or source of knowledge. In the mantra guru is categorically spoken as ishwar himself. If you look at the guru, especially a spiritual one who makes aware a student of the ever existing truth i.e.brahm, as just another person walking n living a normal human life you are not mistaken but you might be ignorant of a deeper reality....the reality of him being a brahmagya(the one who knows brahm)... In upanishads it is stated that the one who knows brahm becomes brahm...advait vedant is not merely a subject consisting of information regarding an object named brahm but the knowledge is of prime concern to u coz u yourself are brahm... From transactional point of view it is totally alright to treat guru as a normal human being who had a name, who was not young when u first met him or who had left his body in samadhi on this date at that place...but these informations must not have significance to u in person...coz it would mean you have faith in the limitations of the body(being ignorant of it to be mithya i.e.unreal).You have localised brahm or confined brahm(as confining the guru is confining the brahm). Thus knowing nature of guru as the all pervasive spirit free from the notions of duality must be the objective of a true aspirant longing to know the reality... The mantra:- Gurur brahma gurur vishnu Gurur devo maheshwaraya! Gurur saakshaat parahbrahm, Tasmeyy shri gurve namah! Meaning:- Guru is brahma(the creator) Guru is vishnu(the sustainer) Guru is mahesh(the destroyer) Guru is indeed the supreme brahm(universal reality), Salutations to that guru!
