A marbled, mottled mackerel sky this morning, gently drifting in from the north-east across a higher, pearly haze which in turn thins here and there to let just a glimpse of pale morning blue through - which might have been deeper and better defined had there not been an unwelcome interloping bank of heavier grey, stubbornly sitting over the place where the sun ought to be rising... Still, as the whole cloud pattern slides further to the south-west, some larger patches of blue emerge, although they too are interspersed with islands of thin grey, misty cloud to maintain the mixed nature of the morning... The air below is quite still, lending a poised expectancy to the scene - bushes and skeletal trees alike sharing the statuesque poses of onlookers at the airshow unfolding above, waiting to see which way things will turn out, as the now risen sun adds a silvery sheen to the gently morphing scene. My guess is that we may well see a bit of old sol today - perhaps not often, but enough to bring some cheer to the days display... Certainly no need for the brolly when I venture forth to get the ingredients for a dinner with some old friends this evening - with a bottle or two, of course! :¬}
