"A member of the jury that acquitted George Zimmerman, Juror B29, thinks the neighborhood watchman “got away with murder,” but also believes the trial was a publicity stunt. The only minority on the all-female jury that found Zimmerman not guilty of second-degree murder spoke to ABC News on Thursday. Identified only as Maddy, the woman said the jury felt in their hearts Zimmerman was guilty, but there was not enough evidence to convict him. Zimmerman reported Trayvon Martin to police last year before shooting the unarmed Florida teenager. He said Martin attacked him and was pounding his head into the ground. “George Zimmerman got away with murder, but you can’t get away from God,” Maddy said. “And at the end of the day, he’s going to have a lot of questions and answers he has to deal with. [But] the law couldn’t prove it.” Though she believed what Zimmerman did was wrong, there was not enough evidence to convict him under Florida law. Zimmerman had admitted to briefly following Martin, but the defense team argued it was Martin who provoked the confrontation that resulted in the shooting. Maddy said she didn’t think the case should have ever gone to trial. “I felt like this was a publicity stunt. This whole court service thing to me was publicity,” she said. Being part of the jury has been an emotional struggle, Maddy added. “It’s hard for me to sleep, it’s hard for me to eat because I feel I was forcefully included in Trayvon Martin’s death. And as I carry him on my back, I’m hurting as much [as] Trayvon’s Martin’s mother because there’s no way that any mother should feel that pain,” she said."
