"A member of the public had deemed his March posting racially - TopicsExpress

"A member of the public had deemed his March posting racially insensitive and made a police report." Who is this "member of the public"? A PAP member? A vindictive PAP IB? As we know, the allegedly racially insensitive cartoon recounted what a local statesman said about a particular race in Singapore and at no time made disparaging remarks about that race. Whatever it is, this is another attestation of the opaque manner by which the PAP works. Such a lack of transparency will only erode trust in public institutions. The PAP Government should take a step back and reflect on whether it wants to use a sledgehammer in every perceived slight by its critics in which case it will further alienate more than 40% of the populace or to foster an open atmosphere of frank exchange which may ultimately buy it some respect from these critics. So far, the signs point to the former and shows that to the PAP, the 40% is really an irritant that, if cannot be wished away, should be rough-handled into submission.
