A merchant seaman on a foggy wharf in a far-off port walks into a mysterious, darkly lit shop. A glint catches his eye and he sees a golden rat, stuffed, sitting on a shelf. The shop owner says the price is $50 for the rat, but $500 for the story behind it. The sailor tells the owner to give him the rat without the story, pays up, and hes happily on his way rat in hand. The sailor goes a short distance when he hears a scuffling behind him, and he turns to see a couple of rats following him. he continues walking , but the sound gets louder, and when he turns he sees fifty rats. Well, he moves out smartly and the next time he turns there are thousands of rats. Now he is sprinting, and in no time flat he is at the end of the wharf. He flings the golden rat into the harbor, and the countless multitudes of rats run off the wharf after it where they disappear beneath the waves. The sailor quickly returns to the shop where the owner asks are you ready for the story now The sailor replies, forget the the story! I want to know if you have a golden mandolin.
