A message 2 White folk everywhere: I have been accused many times of being a racist because of my Facebook posts on the history of African people and the reprehensible behavior by some members of the white community. I have not a prejudice bone in me. The things I post concerning the history of African people and the behavior of some whites is all historically accurate. And there is plenty of sources 2 verify it all. Its easy 2 ignore the pain, frustration, anger, and suffering of others when ur not subject 2 it. Therefore, u will immediately contract chronic cognitive dissonance 2 the frustration and pain of those subject 2 racism. The reality of white privilege is real. But most white folk wont acknowledge it or admit it. And when black folk express their anger and frustration in a system that is designed 2 mistreat them, we r called reverse racists. So when white folk hear or see things about how some members of white society behave and have behaved, they shouldnt be offended. If u urself as a white person do not ascribe 2 the tendencies of White Supremacy, then u shouldnt be offended. But if u get offended, in my opinion, u must be guilty of something 2 get so bent out of shape 2 the truth. Life in the skin Im in is difficult. And u cannot imagine what it is like dealing with prejudice, bigotry, and racism thruout life. I find it easier 2 deal with by expressing my opinions and views with others. As long as humanity is reluctant 2 have open, candid honest discussion about racism, we r not going anywhere. U cant cure a sickness until u admit ur sick. So its not enough 2 be white and say, Well, I didnt own any slaves. Why r u making me feel guilty about slavery? Well, u may not have owned slaves personally. But u still benefit from the privilege of being classified as white. Rich or poor, white skin privilege trumps everything when the chips r down. Thats the harsh reality of it all. And how many white folk r willing 2 relinquish that privilege so that black folk can be on an equal playing field with them? Europe has a 500 year head start over African people. The transatlantic slave trade put black folk behind 500 years. Yet, this is often overlooked or not even acknowledged at all. So I say 2 the white community and certain members of it, the uncomfortableness or anger u feel when these things r discussed, multiply that times a 1000. Now u know how black folk feel in a system designed 2 keep u down.
