A message for Junaid Jamshed from my mother, a middle-aged, - TopicsExpress

A message for Junaid Jamshed from my mother, a middle-aged, religious, house-wife who has raised three educated, responsible and independent daughters: The first time I saw your program I was hoping being an educated person you have have an enlightened view about Islam and women. But I was extremely disappointed and enraged when you talked about women in a demeaning manner. In your Ramzan special morning, sehri transmission on ARY, you said parents who come to me for special prayers for for their daughters marriage, I always tell them that when it comes to this matter, you forget about Quran and Sunnah and do not follow it to marry them off at young age. And when they reach a mature age, you get worried about their marriage, as your daughters want a man who is good enough for them, someone who is compatible with their thinking. That is why I strongly suggest that parents should marry off their daughters at a young age, so that they can live their lives according to the demands and expectations of their husbands. Also, it is easier for men to shape the personalities of young girls according to the environment at their place. My question to you is what should be the age of men for marriage? You addressed women in an extremely demeaning manner. They are not animals that are raised for sole purpose of being consumed. Women have as much right to get education, work and enjoy life as any other man. Allah has set limitations, but these limitations are equally applicable for men and women. There are thousands of people who watch your show. What message are you giving them? Instead of teaching parents to educate their daughters and make them responsible human begins, you are playing with their fear. Before becoming a religious scholar, I advise you to learn to be respectful towards women, because Islam certainly teaches that.
