A message for you from Father Finch, M.M. Dear Maryknoll Friend, Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you. ~ Isaiah 60:1 I am filled with joy to celebrate the culmination of the 12 days of Christmas with you! Today we commemorate the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles, one of the oldest of Christian feasts. The revelation of Christ as the son of God, of His Incarnation in the baby Jesus is the meaning of the Epiphany and the very heart of our faith. I imagine us walking together to meet the young Savior along the road to Bethlehem. What a journey that must have been for the Magi of the East! Pope Francis spoke of how our lives are a continuous search to encounter The Light of Jesus, similar to the way the Magi sought the light of the star to brighten their long journey. We can follow the light of the Lord by listening to the Gospel, by reading it, by meditating on it and by making it our spiritual nourishment. On this Epiphany, I ask you to share your faith with someone, to walk that proverbial extra mile, to use your gifts to build up the Body of Christ, the church. Let us honor Christ together today with our unique gifts. I pray this reflection brings you closer to the beauty and depth of the Epiphany.
