A message from Carol A. Campbell, RPO Director: Hello everyone. I just wanted to take a moment to express my thanks for your support this year and offer my best wishes for the upcoming holiday season. Your support and engagement have been invaluable to me and the Return Preparer Office in what has been a very challenging year. I also would like to extend my appreciation to all of you who have “liked” our Facebook page. You helped push us above 20,000 followers this year. This page is a valuable communications tool precisely because it is a two-way street. I very much appreciate the constructive comments and the civility shown to each other and to the Return Preparer Office. This past year has been one of challenge and change, not just for RPO, but for all of the IRS, on many fronts. We are looking forward to a smoother 2014. One way to ensure that you and your tax professional colleagues have a smoother 2014 is to be signed up on all IRS communication platforms aimed at practitioners. In addition to this Facebook page, there is Twitter, e-News for Tax Professionals and Quick Alerts. Here’s a link: irs.gov/Tax-Professionals/Stay-Informed. These tools can help keep you in the know on all sorts of issues. When you return from the holidays, we will have a new Commissioner, we will be preparing ourselves for another filing season and early in 2014 we are hoping for a decision in the Loving appeal. There is likely to be much to communicate about and you certainly do not want to be the last to know. Also, for those of you who have not done so already, I would encourage you to take just a few minutes and renew your PTIN for 2014.
