A message from Mayor John Borrowman I want to extend my sincere heartfelt thank you to everyone in Canmore for your support and assistance during the last several days. THANK YOU. I am humbled and truly grateful to our local businesses for the ways you assisted in the flood and continue to assist in the recovery. I am also amazed by the community members who have found ways to volunteer and support their neighbours and friends. When we called for assistance, you said yes. When you saw a need in the community, you took the initiative to fill it. Your involvement has had a dramatic impact. It is your actions over the last few days that showcase what I most love about Canmore. We have a community in the most true sense of the word. We are now out of the emergency mode and are in to recovery. While we are still in a state of emergency, we are beginning to return to business as usual, as much as we can. We are also developing plans and priorities for moving forward and rebuilding. My heart goes out to every impacted home ownere and business owner. I want you to know that as we work on plans and priorities, you are top of mind. We are doing everything we can as quickly as we can, though we do have some long term work ahead of us. We will be applying to the Province for Disaster Relief. I toured some areas of the town earlier today with Premier Redford and several Ministers and our MLA. All are committed to rebuilding all impacted communities in Alberta, including Canmore. When we have information about the relief program, we will provide you with the details you need. I encourage you to take photos and document any impacts your home or business is experiencing. Thank you for everything you’ve done and will continue to do. I am confident that if we continue to come together as a community, we will rebuild and be stronger than ever.
