A message from President Dastmozd: The white winter has arrived. I hope you are getting around safely and making satisfactory progress with your school work. As a reminder, register for your spring semester classes ASAP. On Monday, I hosted community leaders, educators, private foundation program directors, and trade union representatives on campus to discuss workforce training. I visited two classroom. What a wonderful experience! I am proud of our hardworking students and dedicated faculty. I was interviewed for a potential board position with a local organization. I attended the St. Paul Promise Neighborhood Partnership meeting. I also attended the Greater MSP annual event at Northrop Center at University of MN. On Tuesday, I listened to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees meeting via WebEx. I also attended the MSPWIN Advisory Council meeting. Later, I met with a team with representatives from various college units to debrief and expand conversations with the AQIP Strategy Forum. In the evening, I attended the Strategic Planning Session for the Friends of Saint Paul College foundation. Many thanks for all of our board members and community leaders who attended this session. On Wednesday, I met with the new Executive Director of Neighborhood House about potential partnerships. I listened to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees meeting via WebEx. I attended the Minnesota Philanthropy Foundation Grant meeting at noon. I also met with the College’s Executive Leadership Team. On Thursday, I attended the MSPWIN Board meeting. The College hosted educators and leaders from the Basque region of Spain to discuss internationalization and partnerships. We also held the November Presidents Advisory Council meeting. On Friday, I was a panelist at the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce Critical Issues Forum, Closing the Gap One Student at a Time: https://facebook/minneapolischamber/photos/pb.103285879717595.-2207520000.1416487012./780263465353163/?type=1&theater I also attended the two year college sector meeting with all MnSCU two-year Colleges Presidents. I made one classroom visit. I attended the Minnesota Philanthropy meeting. The College also hosted a Faculty Shared Governance meeting. Some wonderful news to share with you: The College is hosting “Why Treaties Matter Exhibit.” This exhibit is being held on the fourth commons of Saint Paul College, for more information, please see: treatiesmatter.org/exhibit/. I invite you to visit this exhibit. Today, treaties continue to affirm the inherent sovereignty of Native American nations. Tribal governments maintain nation-to-nation relationships with the United States government. Tribal nations manage lands, resources, and economies, protect people, and build more secure futures for generations to come. That is why treaties matter.
