A message from Principal, Mary Havis and the Irving Staff: It is with great sadness that we inform our parent community of the sudden death of preschool teacher Nancy Snyder. Nancy has been a teacher at Irving for years and has touched many students lives. The death of a teacher can be very difficult for children to understand, and we respect that discussions with young children should be handled first by their parents at home. Children deal with loss in a variety of ways, and hearing about death may bring about emotions of previous deaths they have experienced. We will have a team of social workers available at Irving on Monday, and our social work staff will continue to be available at any time to work with students and staff who need support. Our teachers will watch for signs of grief in children at school and parents will be called if a child is upset. Please contact our school office if you have questions or feel your child can benefit from visiting with a social worker. Thank you. Nancy impartió clases en la escuela de Irving por muchos años y toco muchas vidas de los estudiantes. La muerte de una maestra puede tener un fuerte impacto y es difícil que los niños lo comprendan. Nosotros entendemos que la conversación con su hijo/a debe ser con delicadeza y discreción ya que los niños por su edad no comprenden completamente el fallecimiento de una persona. Los niño son afectados por perdidas en diferentes formas y escuchar de una muerta puede que le cause diferentes emociones dependiendo en sus experiencias anteriores. Vamos a tener un equipo de trabajadoras sociales disponibles en Irving mañana. Las trabajadoras sociales estarán disponibles todo el día a cualquier hora para apoyar a los estudiantes y a los maestros de la escuela Irving. Nuestras maestras estarán al tanto por cualquier situación que pudiera presentarse en relación con su niño. Si las maestras notan algún cambio emocional se los dejaremos saber inmediatamente.
