A message from Suddhaka ( Karuna Program Manager ) in Pune. Yesterday I visited this nomadic community living in a makeshift squatter camp on the outskirts of Pune. Karunas partners are working to secure citizenship rights for this marginalised community. Here mothers and children holding up their newly acquired birth certificates. These tiny pieces of paper will enable the children to get into school and access other welfare services. For these desperately poor people they represent a passport out of poverty.
