A message from our mayor about the passing of Councilor Prague; we join the mayor in sending our condolences and prayers to Carys friends and family. Please see Mayor Anwars message below: Dear All, It is with deep regret and profound sadness that I must inform you that one of South Windsors most respected public servants has expired. My friend, our former Mayor and a current council member, Cary Prague passed away, comfortably, today, surrounded by his family. Cary was an exemplary public servant and a passionate advocate for the residents of our community. Cary was diagnosed, a few years ago, with brain cancer. He endured multiple surgeries and had to undergone radiation treatment and chemotherapy. While going through all of these therapies, he did not reduce his workload or commitment to South Windsor. He contributed to the decision making process, participated in discussions and continued to be actively involved, despite his illness. About 36 years ago, Cary and Karen decided to move to South Windsor and raise their family. Since 2002, Cary has given his time and energy to various Boards, Commissions and Committees. He served on the Board of Education and was currently a Member of the Town Council. Cary was Mayor from September 2008 to November 2009. Cary was valued member of the South Windsor Chamber of Commerce, as well as being a founder, treasurer and executive member of the South Windsor Community Foundation. He has been an active member of the South Windsor Rotary Club, and was the recipient of the Rotarys highest honor, the Paul Harrison Award. Cary has touched everyone in the town of South Windsor with his work. His commitment and passion was an inspiration to those who served beside him. We have all benefited from his presence. He will be missed and remembered for his service, intelligence and personality. On behalf of our town, I extend our deepest condolences to Carys wife, Karen and his children, David, Jeff and Alex. We join his family and friends in grieving the loss of a very good man. In the history of South Windsor, the name Cary Prague will forever be honored and remembered. M.
