A message from the Brigade Commander, COL Omar Jones. Warhorse Family and Friends! Greetings from the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California! You should be very proud of your Soldiers and the hard work they have been doing over the past couple of weeks. I have experienced 10 rotations at training centers like this and have never seen a more disciplined team work together so well and... accomplish so much. I am excited for us to move to the training area later this week and start our tactical training. When we do leave Fort Irwin installation and move into the training area (aka “the box”), we will not have access to personal mobile phones or internet. It is a policy of the training center; and frankly, there is very little mobile phone coverage out in the desert. Your Soldiers will be back on the installation by the end of June and again have access to their mobile phones in the evenings. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact your company/troop/battery Family Readiness Liaison (FRL) or the unit’s Rear Detachment Commander. In case of emergency, please also contact the American Red Cross and they will ensure the message is rapidly sent to us in the box. We are tracking the tragic fires that are plaguing our community again this summer. We are ensuring all Soldiers are aware and will address any individual circumstances that may arise due to evacuations. Again, please keep your FRL and Rear Detachment leadership informed. I am immensely proud of this Brigade and what your Soldiers are accomplishing every day. Thank you for your support to them and to the Warhorse Family! Omar
