A message from the President of OCP (Orthodox Christian - TopicsExpress

A message from the President of OCP (Orthodox Christian Progressives): Dear Supporter or Member of OCP, As my lovely bride and I were basking in the afterglow of our wonderful Fellowship picnic last evening, many pleasant thoughts crossed our minds. The number of attendees (at least 200), particularly young families and kids, was extremely encouraging. The degree of harmony, fellowship, and Christ-centered vision for our new parish created an atmosphere that could be seen and felt. The opportunity to worship as a new parish brought smiles and joy to everyone. It was very apparent that similar thoughts were on everybody’s minds. Many thanks are in order. Georgette Lowe and Kim Mallas gladly volunteered to lead the charge, and they did it exceedingly well. It was wonderful to have Fr. Nicholas Andrewchou conduct the beautiful service with so much participation. Our cooking team did their usual phenomenal jobs. The kids entertainment team made sure youngsters wanted to stay late. We had virtually all of the food donated by generous supporters so the $2100 that was collected last night will be seed money for our new parish. We got significant additional commitments so our running total before fully implementing our Stewardship Program is about $192,000!!! We truly are a viable parish now. Please mark your calendars now for our next Assembly on Aug. 17, 2014, 2PM at the Cottonwood Club, 1780 Lakewood Drive, Holladay, Ut. An agenda will be emailed to you prior to the Assembly. We will have the details for creation of our mission parish, along with other important topics that will need to be addressed by our group. This will be a very important meeting to attain our goal of having a new mission parish in place by the start of the Ecclesiastical New Year on September 1, 2014. We will keep it short and sweet, just as our prior two assemblies have been. Let me remind you to fill out a Commitment Card if you haven’t done so already. The Card is self-explanatory and can easily be completed electronically on our website (ocpslc.org/). This week we are in the process of finalizing our projected Budget, which is required as part of our submission for a new parish. Obviously, Stewardship is the key component upon which our budget will be based so we need your help to accurately plan for our future. In closing, it is very apparent that we are moving full speed ahead and there is no turning back. We sincerely believe we are doing God’s will and He will bless our efforts abundantly, especially if last night’s picnic is any indicator of what the future holds for us. We look forward to seeing all of you on Aug. 17 at our next Assembly. In His service, Bill Souvall President of OCP Steering Council
