A mini- Emily update. Liver & Thyroid ultrasounds came back OK, I think. We havent heard from the endocrinologist, so I think that means good news. Emily had a neurologist follow up appt on Monday and she looked at the results and said that it is a fatty liver. Can be controlled with weight loss. Emily has joined Weight Watchers online. SO now we are tracking all of her food and eating healthy 90% of the time. Her main issue is that since she is a vegetarian, she eats a lot of carbs. Were trying to balance that out now. More vegetables, very little carbs, and add in more protein to her diet with beans, tofu, and powder. Funny. The neurologist mentioned again that she is still amazed to be talking to Emily after looking at her brain scans. Emily said sarcastically, What?? Youve never met a girl whos had 5 strokes? Neurologist said, Not that was still alive. The BOTOX that she got was only done in her right leg. She was unable to move that ankle at all, it was always locked. She can now tap her toe! I will post a video later today of the before/after. Therapy has been mediocre this week. Trying to get her on her hands and knees, and her knees dont want to bend. They just extend and go straight out. Its so frustrating, I know she wants to be doing good- but she is whining and complaining through the whole sessions. I want to cry with every complaint, I just know that is one more whimper towards her being discharged. Might be her new diet. Ah, sometimes it seems like its never ending here.
