A modest suggestion for all 42 GOP legislators in the State Capitol -- no legislation that you introduce, or vote for, whether in committee or on the floor, should result in a net increase spending by the state. In fact, you should each introduce legislation to reduce state spending on various other things, and redirect the savings to the states massive unfunded liabilities. Democrats are fiscally irresponsible. They have no problems making minimum payments on their high-interest credit cards while spending money on non-essentials. Republicans are burdened with being fiscally responsible. At least they are supposed to be. Lets see whether the actions of Republicans in the Spring match the rhetoric of Republicans from the Fall. In fact I think I may start to go through the legislation introduced by GOP lawmakers. Any lawmaker who introduces no legislation that increases state spending will be heralded with praise. Any Republicans who propose net spending increases (new spending, not offset with a reduction in spending elsewhere) will be digitally pelted with tomatoes
