A mom shares: I just wanted to provide a little bit of inspiration to families of tiny miracles:) At 24 weeks pregnant I was admitted to the hospital with high blood pressure for what I thought would be the next 3.5 months. Unfortunately after a week my conditioned worsened and I developed severe HELLP syndrome and my baby had IUGR. The only way to save us both was an emergency c-section . On Nov.30/2012 my daughter came into this world weighing 500grams (1lb2oz) . During her journey she battled pneumonia, suspected sepsis, BPD, CLD, PDA, enemia, stage 2 ROP, level 1 IVH, pulmonary hypertension an multiple blood transfusions. She spent 109 days in the NICU and 10 days after her due date we finally got to bring our princess home, oxygen and monitor free!! It was a rough road, physically and mentally. With the help of a complete stranger who had recently been through the same journey I made I through. Im so thankful for her guidance throughout everything. Having someone to talk to who understands you is very helpful. Dont forget to take care of yourself !! Find a friend , or a stranger, someone to hold your hand and who understands:) my daughter is now a happy healthy 20lb 19 month old!! I am thankful for her everyday and although I am struggling with PTSD from everything we have gone through I still feel blessed to have travelled such an amazing journey with my daughter and family.
