A moment of silence is requested for our Fallen Coast Guard Brother, WWII Veteran Robert Hines Jr. Rest in Peace ♥ HINES, Jr., Robert January 11, 1922 - February 1, 2014 Mr. Robert Hines Jr., 92, of Newnan, Georgia died peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Mr. Robert, affectionately known as 400, was born on January 11, 1922 to Robert Hines Sr. and Mamie Phillips Hines. Robert enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1940 where he trained at Ellis Island, New York. Chief Commissaryman Robert retired from the Coast Guard in Boston, Massachusetts after 20 years of honorable service in 1960. On September 16, 1960, Robert married the love of his life, Mary Lee Mobley at Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church where he and his wife were members. After retirement, Robert was employed at Fort McPherson/Ft. Gilliam where he served as Assistant Meat Market Manager until his retirement in 1984. Robert was a Mason in the Grand Lodge of Georgia No. 299 where he served as a life member for 50 years. Robert is survived by his sister, Annie M. Hines; his son, Clarence M. White (Gwen), his daughter, Rita H. Parker (Dewitt); Grandchildren, Camelia Ruffin (Shomari), Amelia Hines, Ameshea Taylor (Marquel), Cory and Alexis White, Miles and Erin Parker; sister in laws, Annie Kate Hines and Louise Hines and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will all miss him dearly. Viewing and visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, 3:00 p.m. at Newnan Chapel UMC located at 72 Robinson Street, Newnan with Rev. Dr. Marcus E. Dixon, presiding and Pastor Yolanda Jones-Colton, eulogist. Instate viewing will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Eastview Cemetery in Newnan.
