A momentary lapse of concentration cost the Ba football team - TopicsExpress

A momentary lapse of concentration cost the Ba football team dearly as they conceded two away goals in a span of a minute to go down to Amicale FC of Vanuatu yesterday (27 April, 2014). Avinesh swamy took a powerful shot from an acute angle in the 11th minute which proved too hot to handle for Amicale goalkeeper Chikau Mansale as Ba took the lead. Ba then missed several opportunities to score with Vakatalesau and swamy shooting over and Maciu Dunadamu failing to tap in the easiest of goals. Amicale coach Nathan Hall swapped Dominique Fred to the left side of the field in the second half after he was shut down by Laisenia Raura for most of the first, and the switch paid off. Fred equalized against the run of play for Amicale after Marika Madigi lost the ball on the left side and Ba failed to clear their lines. Ba seemed stunned from the strange equalizer and Amicale took advantage less than a minute later as substitute Kensi Tangis scored the winner. The men in black tried hard to get back in the match but failed to really test Mansale and saw most of their attempts go off target. Ba FC coach Yogendra dutt accepted defeat admitting they lost to a better team. “We will go back to the drawing board and decide how to approach the next leg of the semifinal,” said Dutt. The loss means that Ba goes into next Saturdays (May 3, 2014) match needing to score two goals and register a win to stand any chance at winning the OFC champions league.
