A month before Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines the country was hit by an earthquake in the Bohol region. The 7.2 magnitude earthquake which caused more than 200 deaths and millions in property loss joined the long list of silent disasters that pass under the radar. Six months on the Philippine Red Cross has provided 60,000 households with clean water and reached 12,000 people with relief items including blankets, hygiene kits, mosquito nets and sleeping mats.
