A mother came home from a rough day at work. Her young daughter was singing happily in the other room. Frustrated with the events of the day the mother yelled at her ‘Shut up! You are so irritating. Can you please just shut up!’ The daughter who just moments before believed that she had a wonderful voice and that her mother loved to hear her sing accepted this new poison. From that time on the girl refused to sing, it became even difficult for her to talk. She believed that to be accepted and loved she needed to remain silent. All created out of a word. As Don Miguel Ruiz so eloquently stated in his book The Four Agreements: Your word is the most powerful tool you possess. Indeed, it is the tool of magic. But like a sword with two edges, your word can create the most beautiful dream, or like black magic it can destroy everything around you.
