A multi agency emergency services exercise was conducted at an apartment complex in Main Beach today. The exercise was planned and organised by the Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority and involved Queensland Ambulance staff and Surfers Paradise Police staff. The exercise demonstrated the ability of these agencies to work in cooperation with each other and with the apartment complex’s management to respond to a staged fire and entrapment. These types of exercises are required to test the capability of emergency services and for each agency to understand their role. The exercise was completed without incident and a Queensland Fire and Rescue spokesman indicated that it had been successful and that each agency gained valuable experience from the exercise.
