A narrative of what happened in Mukaya and Lainya in Central Equatoria State, South Sudan as reported by John Justin. Some men in uniform reportedly alleged that, there were ‘Nuer’ who ’re armed in Mukaya – Lainya County. They were, however, informed by a credible source (a person from the National Security), that such allegation was not true. Nevertheless, they (men in uniform) reportedly went on their own to Mukaya, and re beating the citizens (Pojulu) indiscriminately, while holding them hostage and in custody. In an instance, they attacked a Primary School pupil, who happened to have his father a Nuer, but was raised in a Pojulu family (with the maternal uncles) in Mukaya – Lainya County. They reportedly went as far as disarming/scattering the guards for the Lainya County Commissioner, through the use of fire arms, and jailed the National Security person concerned, who had gone to the site, and questioned the impunity thats ongoing. Central Equatoria State government officials reportedly intervened, and that resulted to the release of the National Security person, whom I met to day (about an hour ago) in Yei. The men in uniform reportedly made allegations, which included that: the said National Security person had defected (to join Dr. Riek Manchar /Nuer). Unless people become rational and behave humanly, the future of this Country called South Sudan remains a gamble, not based on rationality but on egocentric tribalistic drives. Its our responsibility to stand out, and speak out in defense of truth and uphold humanity at any cost.
