No one can, begin to understand what the parents and families of the little ones who lost their lives on Tuesday in the Peshawar cruelty...are going tru😢 They are in our thoughts and prayers.. Forever. And then, yesterday I met Lakshmi Menon who walked into my kochi salon with Pramod my friend and she had a story to tell that brought tears and happiness to my very being😊.. Her initiative to help and bring self worth to the aged is what it means, to me, to be human. To keep her grandmother occupied she taught her the art of making wicks.. And further gathered many aged women into the fold to start Wicksdom/Dadidiya... wicksdom/ ammoommathiri😍😍 They stay occupied for hours making wicks.. And for them it means *a whole lot of fun, happiness and dignity. *flexible timings. *handful of cash. *and acupressure for the fingers. Many of these women, have all their lives leaned on their parents, husbands and children for money... And in their old age when they thought they still needed to depend on others.. They are actually working and making money on the side😄 for them it matters so much that most of their wicks are lit at temples, and helps give light to many who dont have it. When I asked Lakshmi N.Menon what her future plans were.. She said to involve more grandmas in destitute homes and she wishes to implement the same initiative in Vrindavan, for the widows of Vrindavan. She believes its our moral responsibility , especially the women to help our counterparts in distress. The Vrindavan proposal has been submitted to the Prime ministers office. Well, all the best Lakshmi😊😊 The need of the hour right now is to sell as many packets as possible to temples, homes etc... Its only Rs 5/- for a packet...
