A new 9-1-1 regional center for the La Salle, Peru, and Oglesby area is getting a big hand in funding. State Representative Frank Mautino made the announcement Friday morning at Illinois Valley Regional Airport that $1.5 million will be given for the building that will be located in Oglesby. The facility will consolidate the police dispatchers in La Salle, Peru and Oglesby into one centralized location. Peru Chief Doug Bernabei and La Salle Mayor Jeff Grove both said that the building will better serve the community, including in rural areas and will be a big cost saver on the taxpayers. Governor Pat Quinn, in the midst of a tight reelection campaign, was scheduled to make the announcement, but fog in Chicago prevented his flight.
