A new egg substitute has hit the market in the US and will probably find its way here. Hampton Creek Foods has a range wealthy backers – including ex Microsoft boss Bill Gates.. Josh Tetrick, founder of Hampton Creek Foods, is a vegan and isn’t the first person to try to convince people to eat fewer animal products. But he says he is hoping to create plant-based foods that are actually better than the animal products they replace. And he has launched a product called Beyond Eggs. It works as an egg replacer in baked goods and is made from peas, sunflower lecithin, canola, and natural gums.
