A new friend that I made, and also lost (of his own making) made me nauseous with his attitude to work, which could had opened up long term opportunities for him. His short term goal, which was to cash out and do a shoddy job, cost him my friendship and an experience that would had helped his career in the future. A world renowned auditing and accounting firm put out a job/intern ad online, to which he applied and got. He was offered fair money in my opinion, to garner data on a particular research, this multinational was conducting in a particular geographical region. My friend was smart and the shiny, first class graduate youll expect from a top range Nigerian university, but couldnt just see the big picture. Forging up data, without a fieldwork could be called smart here. This was a fieldwork that could had taken him, right into the offices of big businesses in that locality (he was given questionnaires), and immensely helped his network, but his reluctance towards the project (since it was a temporary gig) blinded his reasoning. We always complain of not being lucky; not being favoured; or not knowing the right people, but walks away from opportunities to make our luck daily.
