A new rant about the state of America this time looking at our government rather than my fellow less than stellar Americans: My problem is that it seems pretty obvious to me that several things have happened that show that our current government has only a secondary interest in promoting the common good. The franchise of the American vote has been compromised i.e. the vote count is rigged. The supposed choice between Democrat and Republican is an illusion i.e. it can be mathematically demonstrated that any two party system will stabilize into one choice rather than two. In order to keep a capitalistic economy from growing into a oligarchy or outright monopolistic dictatorship the market needs to be properly regulated but this regulation is easily manipulated by corporations that gain control of the information flow or can influence policy through capitol expenditure...I believe this has already happened in America. The other weakness of a representative democracy that I think has accelerated the demise of the American experiment is that the people who are psychologically inclined to run for and win office are often times the lest desirable people to have in a position of authority this includes personalities that are inherently insecure, narcissistic, or even sociopaths. The final two nails in the coffin are an emerging global society that is too complex to analyze and lead in an effective way given human capability, and a government that was forged in a capitalistic mold whose own departments have turned their services into self propagating social machines that find ways to grow and create need where none would have existed before i.e. their success depends upon the problem rather than the solution. With all this said our best course of action is to try and make ourselves and those we love as safe and as happy as possible with a very healthy eye of mistrust focused upon our government.
