A new review, I just recieved. Thanks Brendan Pearson John Jones just sold me a Ferrari. Ok, not really, but thats what it feels like. I upgraded to what is easily my favorite bow Ive ever shot - and Xcentric by Xpedition Archery. This thing is amazing. No - really. This is an incredible bow. Let me get more specific. Before I even picked it up, I noticed that this bow is a work of art. The riser cutouts, the similar lines in the cams, the curve of the limbs - its clear that this design was anything but haphazard. Whoever designed this thing really enjoyed themselves. I think that most compound bows have a clunky, awkward look to them. Not so with the Xcentric. The sensible guy inside of me says who cares? But then the rest of me just smiles and says this thing is beautiful! I think I would describe its appearance as both elegantly refined and aggressive. I got the molten black finish, which looks flawless and feels great in the hand. The grip on the Xcentric is just right. It feels natural, and on my first shot with the bow I shot a bullethole through paper. The draw cycle is without compare. I know, I know - everyone claims that their bow has the smoothest draw. But this bow really delivers it. Really. The best description I can come up with is that the draw cycle feels very natural. No lumps or bumps. Just smooth all the way through. I realize that everyone has their preferences. But I think it would be incredibly hard not to like the draw cycle on this bow. At full draw it holds extremely well. The whole rig feels very stable, which helped me get a 3 group at 60 yards with only a handful of shots on the bow. The back wall is as solid as it gets, and I find that I can comfortably and effortlessly hold it back at full draw for a very long time. I am actually working on teaching myself to not hold against the back wall more than I have to. I keep expecting to not be able to relax so much at full draw on a 65# bow. But relaxing is exactly what I can do every time. Awesome. On the shot this thing is mind-boggling. No shock. Its super quiet. The bow doesnt move at all. And as for speed, its sending my arrows out much faster than I thought Id ever get from my 27 draw length. I got the bow from John at Maximum Performance Archery, who also made a very nice set of strings for it out of BCY-X. As always, I got treated more like a friend than a customer. And of course, John got the bow tuned to perfection as he always does. As for ease of tuning on the Xcentric? Mine was tuned in 5 shots. Yup, thats it. Overall, I can truly say this is my favorite bow Ive ever shot. Im not letting this one go for a very long time.
