A new study from the US has underlined the benefits that regular exercise can deliver for patients affected by rheumatic diseases such as arthritis. The Ohio State University research, which was presented at the recent European League Against Rheumatism annual congress, has revealed that physical exercise can result in physiological changes that decrease inflammation on a local and systemic level, mitigating the impact of the condition. A spokesman for Arthritis Research UK said: We have known for some time that regular exercise is very important if you have arthritis, as it can reduce pain and keep you healthy and independent.
