A note from ColorofChange.org: Watch as NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio scolds a reporter as he attempts to connect the recent horrific killings of two Brooklyn NYPD officers to the peaceful protests that sparked across the city in the aftermath of the decision to not indict Eric Garners killer. The Mayor reminds reporters that 25,000 people took the streets earlier this month -- and the vast majority were peaceful --to demand reform and then proceeds to reprimand the reporter for misinforming the public. The mayor is right, the protests have been peaceful and have been focused on securing justice for #MIkeBrown, #EricGarner, #TamirRice and others and reforming the policies and practices that lead to these deadly altercations time and time again. These smears by the media and the police union are met to distract us. But weve come too far and now is not the time to sit silent. Keep raising your voice if you still fight for Eric Garner and let state, local and federal officials know that we deserve a higher standard of policing, that doesnt include, discrimination, harassment and violence.
