A note that was just sent to Avas school. Our child came home - TopicsExpress

A note that was just sent to Avas school. Our child came home SEVERELY sunburned today. I consider it neglect both by the school and the teacher. Im a bit at wits end with the school and her idiotic teacher. Last week it was accidents, because she wasnt, allowed to use the restroom. This week, its sunburns. Unreal. Dear Mrs. W., Ava came home today with a very significant sunburn and I wanted to get your details around what happened. (We are concerned about blistering.) This morning, I put a layer of sunscreen on her. I was told that she could not bring sunscreen to school, but she could go to the nurse. (Avas words.) I asked her to stop by the nurse if she felt she was going to be outside for a significant period. We know there was a lunch activity today, but assumed, (possibly wrongly) that she wouldnt be outside for more than an hour or two. We heard from Ava that she was not able to get sunscreen or relief for her sunburn at the nurse. We were also told she was not allowed to use another childs sunscreen and specifically, that Mrs. Ward said its a rule. We cant use someone elses sunscreen. While I understand the importance of risk management, I dont understand the basic neglect of common sense. Were looking for answers as to why our child was burned outside to the extent that its affecting her comfort. No matter the circumstances, nor the situation- the expectation is that the school would be able to ensure Avas safety whether inside the building or on the grounds. Please advise.
